This is for those who feel that push-ups on the floor are too challenging:
Here’s the PERFECT exercise:
PUSH-UPS into a corner. That’s right! EXERCISE: Stand about 12-18 inches away from a corner–the farther away the harder the exercise—
- Place your hands, shoulder height, on two adjacent walls.
- Press gently into the corner and stretch your chest muscles. (You can hold this stretch 10-20 seconds)
- Push away from the walls
- Repeat 10-20 times
Nothing strengthens your triceps (upper back of the arms) , serratus anterior muscles (stabilizes and moves the shoulder blades), pectoralis (chest muscles), and erector spinae (back muscles) like a push up…. Do them any time of day. Being able to perform over 12 repetions of regular-floor push ups, improves muscular endurance in the upper body, an area that is inherently weak in women and especially important for those who “hunch” most of their day. And… because push-ups are a high-rep exercise, they help increase blood flow with in the torso and arms- and we all know the importance of blood flow.
